How Does a CCTV Camera Work Without a DVR?
CCTV camera systems provide security and are a popular way for companies to monitor their premises. CCTV (closed-circuit television) is a high-resolution, low-cost form of video surveillance. CCTV is used by several different types of organizations for different purposes. Some of these are to deter crime, detect potential problems before they become problematic, and monitor employee behavior.
If you wish to view your network video recorder recordings over a public computer network, there are two options available to you. Your first option is to connect the cameras to the local area network (LAN). A public computer network is one in which computers on a local area network share a common connection. To connect your cctv camera to this type of network, you will need to arrange for a private LAN connection between your home computer and the recording device.
Another option is to connect the cameras to your internal network via a Firewall. For this to be possible, however, you will need to configure and install an internal firewall between your networked computer and the CCTV cabling, otherwise, the CCTV cabling will be visible to anyone on the internal network. Most modern home video recorders also feature an SD card reader, which allows them to upload the recorded data onto a personal computer.
You should also be aware that most modern televisions can only record up to sixty minutes of programming and will only allow you to view the recordings on the television. To view the recordings on your computer, you will need an internet connection and, if you have installed any video recording software, you should be able to view the footage from your computer. Many people, when setting up their DVR, prefer to view the footage on television.
